Veggies on the ROOF?

THIS is what I want to do on MY roof!!!

Enter: Homegrown Kitchen, a forward thinking new restaurant slated to open this month.

ALL the vegetables and herbs used in the kitchen will be grown upstairs -- in an enormous, rooftop farm!!!

Anne Apparu (right) 32, is the caterer behind the almost-self-sufficient eatery at 169 Bowery.

The restaurant will be serving, as she put it, “fresh, local food with an international-mama accent — what makes you feel good. It’s a cozy flavor. Very simple food, but then again, with my special spice, special touch of the day. I really created my own form of cooking.”

She has two entire rooftops, about 2,000 sq ft, at her disposal and eventually hopes to turn the setting into a real, working farm -- animals and all. "I may have a few chickens and a baby goat," she said.

She goes on to explain how important regular greenhouse plants are. And as the international campaign O2 for You agrees, basic indoor plants can grow in a city apartment, are cost efficient and most importantly, help clean the air of toxins.

Let's go!!!
